E4

An existing TV channel which we would broad cast our soap opera trailer on would be E4. We have chosen E4 because E4 is aimed at people aged15-35 and this is our target age range. E4 broadcasts series such as Made in Chelsea, Skins and Beaverfalls.

E4 also has a website where you can watch show's, play games, win prizes and find out fun and things. E4 is also linked to Channel 4, 4oD, Film 4, More 4, 4 Seven and 4 Music.

Here is a link to the E4 website:

Character List

This is the character lost for our advert:

  • Alcoholic Teacher - Mrs Goodfellow (Mrs Griffiths)
  • Daughter/Pregnant Teen - Vicky Goodfellow (Me)
  • Drug User - Griff
  • Drug Dealer - Taz

We have chosen to use the names Griff and Taz for our drug dealers to as they help create the image of the stereotypical "chavy" teenage boy from a lower class background. Teens from lower class background often get referred to by a "nickname"

These are our story boards which we will follow in order to film our soap opera advert to the best of our ability whilst keeping continuity.

Script Writing Research

We have researched how existing scripts are set out and written so that we can produce a script which will be easily understood by cast. This is one of the scripts we looked at from 500 Days of Summer.

INT DINER - AS BEFORE

                              SUMMER
This thing. This whatever it is.
You and me. Do you think this is
                    normal?

                              TOM
I don't know. Who cares about
                    normal?! I'm happy. Aren't you
                    happy?

                                                          9.

                              SUMMER
                    You're happy?

                              TOM
                    You're not?

                              SUMMER
                    All we do is argue!

                              TOM
                    That is such a lie!

INT TOM'S PLACE - AS BEFORE

                              RACHEL
Maybe she was just in a bad mood.

                              PAUL
                    A hormonal thing.

                                 RACHEL
                    P.M.S.?

                              TOM
                        (to Rachel)
What do you know about PMS?

                              RACHEL
                    More than you.

                                 TOM
                    Oh my god.

                              MCKENZIE
                    Please continue.

Week 5!

This week we have visited various locations in which we want to film and also finished planning our soap opera advert. This week we have worked together to devise our story board, shot list and script. We then considered how to go about our audition process and what applicants will have to undertake in achieving particular role. We are going to construct a monologue which the applicants will read out.

WEEK 4!

This week we have started to look into copy right free music we could use in our spa opera advert. We have looked into what music is already published by big mainstream artists such as Dizzee Rascal and tried to contact him about using one of his tracks - Bonkers. We were unsuccessful in doing this so started to produce our own music using the basic Garage Band on the school's Apple Mac computers.

We like the songs Small Bump by Ed Sheeran and Bonkers by Dizzee Rascal as we want a slow emotional song to start with and then cut into a fast upbeat song listened to by teens of today.

This is Dizzee Rascal - Bonkers.
